headed south to Slidell, Louisiana to watch the transformation of a typical one-story 1960s-era pre-fab into an airy vaulted ceilinged masterpiece. Homeowner Mildred St. James loved her town, her spacious backyard and pool. The only problem was the roof of the house itself. Being in the rainy South, the flat roofed pre-fab houses tend to collect rainfall leading to potential leakage and general deterioration. She'd had the roof re-tarred and tried to make the most of what she had, but the roof continued to have drainage problems. So she decided it was time to raise the roof.
