Being the original and foremost host of This Ol Trailer, Donny certainly portrays his role as the decisive "mobile home
enthusiast" sending viewers on a whirlwind ride each and every episode. Donny has been trusted and accredited throughout mobile home communities by instructing the often complex and technical trailer renovations
with simplistic terminology and easy to follow directions. Donny has made numerous appearances at mobile home shows nationwide and has appeared on television shows such as "Trailer Tonight," and "Good
Morning Mobile Home Community." Donny's life-long pursuit is to obtain his GED and translate his mobile home experience into books on tape; so illiterate renovators can restore their mobile homes.
Describing This Ol Trailer
as "making something out of nothing using something other than nothing," Donny admits that his role of host is definitely something constructed out of a whole lot of nothings. There is undoubtedly a certain "mobile home" logic to how this natural born underdog ended up as host of TOT.
While pursuing an associate's degree in philosophy from Andersen County Community College in Reno, Nevada, Thomas supported himself as a painting contractor and carpenter. Influenced by his father's
passion for fixing up old trailers, Thomas undertook his first mobile home renovation project in 1974: a 1960's residence in Searchlight, Nevada. He has continued to perform renovations in the Southwest including
a 1969 Colonial Malibu and the 1979 Classic Conner Home in which he currently resides.
Donny has always tried to combine his love of fine mobile home renovation with his passion for trailer park beauty
queens. In 1991, he married Miss Trailer Park Tennessee Angel Hatfield. Nine years later Donny and Angel are the proud parents of five children: two boys and the triplets.
Though duties for TOT, personal
appearances and fathering five natural wonders keeps him busy, Donny still manages to satisfy his yen for renovating mobile homes into some of the finest living environments ever assembled with unending personal
projects and assisting his neighbors in their undertakings.
